Las Palmas (Gran Canaria)

Here is the great city with roads, shopping centers, banks, etc ... overlooking the waterfront. The cargo traffic is impressive, and they also have palm trees, hence the name. It is Carnival, so we see clowns, Che Guevaras and Arab princes shopping at the supermarket. Some nights there are thousands in the streets in fancy dress.

Last week we did some good work on the boat (motor maintenance, carpentry, yes we can do) and we’re now in France for a break.

Navigation comment: the wind accelerates full blast into certain areas between islands (typically 10 or 15 knots in 10 minutes), then sailors watch the sea carefully and anticipate reefing more than usually. Of course, we do the same. Photos
